SDG 1: No Poverty Volunteer Event | Project Downtown Gainesville
On April 23, the members of Gainesville's UNA Youth Council united in their commitment to SDG 1: No Poverty. Partnering with Project Downtown Gainesville, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those in need, our group embarked on a mission to make a positive impact. Positioned outside Gainesville City Hall, we distributed essential items and served hot meals consisting of chicken, rice, curry, salad, drinks, snacks, and popsicles.
One of our dedicated volunteers, Delaney Zambrano, reflected on the experience, stating, “This event felt like the perfect way to start off my week. It felt good to be able to get out into my community and to see the expressions on the faces of those I was impacting.”
By joining forces and taking action, we sought to alleviate the burden of poverty and contribute to building a more compassionate and inclusive society. We are dedicated to continuing our efforts in tackling poverty and empowering those who are in need. Together, we aim to build a better future where no one is left behind and everyone's basic needs are met with respect and kindness.
